Now that you know how 6th graders may act, list one way you can assist with responsible supervision in each of the locations covered today (Cafeteria, Fraser, 9 Square/Animas, Bathrooms, Tents).
Cafeteria- Encourage students to be themselves and slow down to listen. Spread out and get to know the kids.
Fraser- Spreed out, and help them create connections. Keep from distracting others.
Animas/ Owl time- Dive into details if planning and , help them to not be so serious. Direct them into a safe situation if needed without being strict.
Bathrooms- Communicate with my peers so that students can all have an equal chance. Then we can move on to other activities.
Tents- Make it a calm and safe space for everyone. Talk to teachers and create a plan if we need to switch out at any point.
Cafeteria - Assist students in learning that meals are for more than just stuffing food down their gullets, and keep them at the table for the whole meal.
Frasier - Keep students from being irresponsible with fire. Help prevent them from distracting other students.
9 Square/ Animas - Help keep OWL time structured, and redirect disparaging comments into learning and creativity.
Bathrooms - Help students use their time responsibly, and make sure that the students respect each other.
Tents - Ensure students are supervised at all times by communicating with the other adult in the tent. Assist students in being calm before lights out.
Cafeteria- Attempt to interact with all students encouraging them to share and open up. Also making sure everyone is staying healthy by eating and drinking water.
Fraser- encourage them to be engaged in the story or activity. Allow them to have fun while still being focused.
9 Square/Animas- Create a structured freetime where the students are having fun and being safe. Engage and be involved in the activity (play 9-square, help with skit).
Bathrooms- observe any negative behaviors occurring in the bathroom and make sure students are respecting their time and others time
Tents- engage with the students in the tent and work with other adult to make the tent a fun yet calming environment
